Artist Statement

While growing up in Switzerland , sewing and art were always a part of my life.  After moving to the US , I made my first quilt, drafting the design in metric units based on a quilt I saw in a magazine.  Since then, I have lived in many different parts of the world and have embraced and incorporated the art from the many cultures into my quilts.  While initially creating many traditional quilts, my designs have now evolved to have an emphasis on geometric design, the use of color, and objects in nature.  To achieve a unique effect, I design my own fabric using various techniques including dyeing, printing, painting, discharge, and shibori.
