Genesis
MY INNER SELF PORTRAIT
![]() |
Detail from Linda Anderson's "Genesis" |
A fine arts
fiber exhibit exploring aspects of self-portraiture. In this exhibit the artist
was asked to look beyond the mere physical and instead present an inner
view. The art work may reflect how the artist sees themselves at this time, or
at a formative moment in their life. Each piece reveals something unique to
the individual and at the same time, that which is universal to all.
Today we feature Linda Anderson's "Genesis" fiber art piece that is part of our brand
new exhibit entitled "My Inner Self Portrait".
Linda's Artist Statement – Making poor decisions as a younger woman and learning and developing my own identity, this piece represents that life changing transformation that was the genesis of all of who I have become today.
This exhibit will debut at the 2015 Road to California quilt show,
which will run from January 22 through 25 at the Ontario Convention Center.
This is the 25th anniversary for Road to California and we are
proud to have this venue to showcase our new exhibit.
We are featuring details of each of the pieces leading up to the
show. We hope you enjoy them and have a chance to see the full "My
Inner Self Portrait" exhibit at Road. For more information about
the show, click on this link: Road to

Bali Boys by Linda Anderson |
Linda Anderson's "Bali Boys", shown above, won first place.
Mia Bloom's "Underneath" and Laura Bisagna's "Pointless" were also called out for a special mention by the art gallery.
Information about the show can be found below:
The Escondido Arts
Partnership Municipal Gallery's newest show, Fiber & Art
Quilts with juror Deborah Jarchow, features a mix of ephemeral fiber
and traditional art quilts by California artists. Pieces in the exhibition such as Stephanie Bedwell's Unforeseen
Buoyancy convey the duality of the
ephemeral nature of fiber and the strength of the human spirit through fiber
vessels. Other pieces like Laura Bisagna's Pointless and Mia Bloom's Underneath explore traditional forms of quilting within modern subject
matter and with ironic wit.
The exhibition runs from August 8 through September
27, 2014 at the Escondido Municipal Gallery. The gallery is open Tues. 11:00AM - 6:00PM and Thurs. through Sat.
11:00AM - 4:00PM. Meet the artists during our opening reception on
Saturday, September 13 from 5:30 - 8:00PM. We are located at 262 E. Grand Ave. in Escondido.
