Emergence

A fine arts fiber exhibit exploring aspects of self-portraiture. In this exhibit the artist was asked to look beyond the mere physical and instead present an inner view. The art work may reflect how the artist sees themselves at this time, or at a formative moment in their life. Each piece reveals something unique to the individual and at the same time, that which is universal to all.

Today we feature Linda Friedman's "Emergence" fiber art piece that is part of our brand new exhibit entitled "My Inner Self Portrait".


Linda's Artist Statement – I perceive that every life has a purpose and that over time an evolving process leads to the birth and development of dreams and aspirations.  By protecting the spirit and letting it grow there can finally be an actualization and emergence of the driving forces in every unique human being.

This exhibit will debut at the 2015 Road to California quilt show, which will run from January 22 through 25 at the Ontario Convention Center.

This is the 25th anniversary for Road to California and we are proud to have this venue to showcase our new exhibit.

Madeleine's Artist Statement – Each of these squares represents a different part of my life. I have lived in 20 different places all over the world and visited many more for vacation. There were happy and sad moments and everything between and it all comes together in this piece.

Teresa's Artist Statement – Just before Spring my mother and I would scour the local nursery for flowering seed, loading everything in a radio flyer wagon. We were inspired by the fragrance and beautiful creatures feeding off the succulent flowers. I strive to follow our tradition, forever and always through my mother's eyes.

Cynthia's Artist Statement This artwork reflects my desire to exhibit confidence and self-assurance in the midst of personal growth. My inner quest seeks tranquility, contentment, joy and peace. My inner spirit recognizes the value of setting boundaries, telling the truth and growing spiritually with love.

Mia's Artist Statement - This piece is a part of the “Peel Away The Layers” series that I started when I was approaching my 50th birthday.  I realized that I was peeling away the layers to become the woman that I am today.  Underneath the layers is a slightly wonky, colorful woman.

Beyond the Edge Fiber Artists has a brand new exhibit entitled "My Inner Self Portrait". This exhibit will debut at the 2015 Road to California quilt show, which will run from January 22 through 25 at the Ontario Convention Center.

This is the 25th anniversary for Road to California and we are proud to have this venue to showcase our new exhibit. 

We will not be showing full views of the fiber art pieces in this exhibit on this blog until after the Road to California show has concluded. We want to leave some surprises for the show! But, in the interim we will feature details from each of the pieces during the days leading up to the show.
